So, here are five things that I intend to accomplish professionally in 2013...so lookout.
1. Revamp my website.
I figure http://www.bradegeland.com needs a new look. Maybe not a major change - I haven't decided yet. But it WILL look different. And yes, the content will change, and I mean more than just new articles and blog content.
2. Increase advertising revenue on my site.
This has always been good, but never a focus. But in the last year unique daily traffic to my site has increased 400% so it is now a more viable advertising venue for interested clients. So, if any of you decision makers for your companies are reading this and want to sponsor my site with a banner or just advertise on one or two pages, contact me - my rates are very favorable.
3. Read and network more with like-minded professionals.
I've been so busy writing my own content for my clients' websites and performing the marketing of that content that draws the traffic and sales to them as part of the consulting packages I offer, I'm usually too busy to do a deep dive into the great content that others are producing. I need to immerse myself in more of the content others are producing - it's a great way to gather new ideas and strategies.
4. Actually write my Real PM book.
I've been promising this book since 2011. I intend to make it a reality in 2013. It will be an e-book or PDF and will be priced affordably and I promise that it will be useful to the practical project manager interested in bringing no nonsense best practices to the way the manage projects on a daily basis.
5. Expanding my content+promotion consulting services to new software, technology, and services genres.
Mostly I've worked with software and services organizations who focus on project management. I will continue to do that, but I'm 2012 I began expanding beyond the PM world and look to do that even more in 2013. Project management best practices are important to just about any software genre, the evangelization just needs to happen. Any organizations reading this who would like to test the waters please contact me - I'm motivated to work with you and your budget to expand this reach and mix project management and good business leadership and advice content with what you offer and help you draw a whole new wave of readers and customers to your site and software/services.
That's it...that's my accountability list for 2013. Hopefully I'll have the guts to write a followup a year from now and discuss who well I performed on each of these.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2013 !
